The depot is situated off a mainline. Even though the coal traffic is in decline, this is still a busy depot.
The depot keeps the rolling stock maintained and serviced, as there is a new freight line terminal near by, and a stone quarry has reopened in the area.
Therefore the need for heavy freight traction is required.

Set in the Great Wester Railway Heyday of the late 1920’s to early 1930’s but also extending to the British Railways (Western Region) steam in the 1960’s, when occasional early diesel powered trains may be seen, but trains from LMS, LNER and Southern Railway all visit during holiday time!
A busy mainline, double track station with two through tracks (passing loops) and a branch line with a shuttle service to Canalside (fiddleyard).
Canal siding with wharf, mobile crane, warehouses and bustling ancillary workshops is reached from the main line. The siding also joins the main line at Deadend through a tunnel at the side of the canal.
