This year we had a record number of visitors for the Thornbury site and would like to thank all our friends old and new for their support on this, our 40th year and of course for all the other 39 years. Thank you. We all hope that you enjoyed the show and that you will come and see us again next year.
Pete Waterman was our Guest of Honour for the show and always seemed to be surrounded by people wishing to speak to him and ask questions. We are very grateful to him for coming along and hope that he enjoyed his time with us. The Chairman of the Association, Mr David Baverstock presented him with a print of the picture painted by Mr. Eric Bottomley GRA that featured on the front cover of the Exhibition guide. The Exhibition was the first time the picture had been seen on display anywhere.
One sad note was the absence of C&G Models from the show. Sadly George Watson the proprietor died in February and the Association would like to express our sympathy to his wife and family.
The Bristol Buffer, the competition judged by you the visiting public was won this year by Mike Renwick and his layout Seabury Town. Mr. & Mrs Mike Wild, the editor of Hornby Magazine and his wife presented the Buffer and all the other trophies at the Annual dinner on Saturday night. For a complete list of the trophy winners use the link at the top of the page. Use the other link to see pictures of the show.
We were sorry to be saying goodbye to two of our regular traders, Helen and Errol Surman of 247 Developments and Graham Shaw of Shawplan, both of whom have decided to retire this year.
Next years Exhibition , the 41st will be at the same location, Thornbury Leisure Centre and will be held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd May 2009. See you there. Keep an eye on this web site for early news of the show .
